How to Feng Shui Your Home at Halloween

October 1, 2014/0 Comments/in Feng Shui Holiday Decorations /by Glenda Feilen

autumn-21495_1280Halloween is fun, filled with fall energy, and can be a bit scary. When it comes to Halloween you simply need to remember that everything is energy. The energy in your home during Halloween, as well as every other time of the year, is very much affected by what is around you in your environment. To create a fun but harmonious energy in your house at Halloween, the first thing to do, of course, is to place your energy corrections and cures for the month throughout your home. This will activate the positive energy of your Relationships, Cash Flow, Unexpected abundance, and Long-term abundance, as well as the Spiritual aspects. It will also cure the dense, negative energy in your Conflict, Disaster, Illness, and Violence/Loss areas, which occupy places in your home this month.

When you add scary, dark energy to the already dense monthly energy areas of your home, it will enhance and accentuate the negative (Disaster, Illness, Violence, Loss, and abuse) energies. Therefore, place your bloody, scary, or evil-looking decorations in areas other than these.

Halloween energy can be beautiful in your home. You can have fun decorating for Halloween by incorporating two colors, which we usually don’t recommend in large amounts, which are black and orange.

Black is not a color. It is an absence of light and in large amounts can be oppressive and bring in a very heavy energy so balance it with the color orange, which is the color representing celebration. Black, the color night, brings in the energy of mystery, power, and protection and should be used in moderation, especially in your entryway, dining room and kitchen. Energetically, it represents the element of water and therefore goes especially well and will enhance the energy in your home in the North, East, and Southeast.
Orange is the color that brings in enthusiasm. It brings in active energy. It spices up winter and brings in warm fire energy. Orange pumpkins, leaves, and candles should be included in your Halloween and Thanksgiving surroundings.

Orange candles are a great choice and bring in a very special Halloween energy since both (candles and the color orange) accentuate the fire energy. The best places to put orange to enhance the energy in your home is in the South, Southwest, Northwest, and center of a room.

Another reason candles are excellent at this time of year is because they also bring in the energy of purification and protection. They also bring in an element of inspiration. As candles burn they allow us to relax as they slowly burn up stress. They give off a soothing energy.

Winter is cold and dark and Halloween can often bring in a dark energy with ghosts, goblins, witches, vampires, gravestones, and blood and guts. It creates a nice balance to include nature’s fall gifts such as pine cones, leaves, and twigs. These can warm up the energy and create balance in your home. Another good thing is that you can gather these yourself so they can be inexpensive.

Your entryway and front door are the mouth of your house and therefore you want to bring in Halloween energy and excitement at the front door. It is where energy enters your house and guests immediately feel the energy in your home. You can start with a welcoming Halloween decoration on your front porch. Consider a Halloween doormat. Face the mat away from your front door so bats, skeletons, etc. are facing outward.

Halloween energy should be fun and can even be spooky, however bloody and gory images don’t really create a harmonious energy in the home. If you major in scary Halloween decorations, be mindful of children who can be scared by your decorations.
